I remember when I was a child flipping through our family photo albums for what felt like hours. Remembering each 6x4" print tucked into those crinkly sleeves, with negatives stored neatly at the back. It felt like stepping back into that time, and I love it.
I shoot weddings on 35mm film partly because of that nostalgia and to offer something a little different. Something slower and more considered, with that quiet excitement as we wait for the developed photographs to come back. I first picked up a film camera in 2012, and when I came back to it in recent years, I realised my digital editing had always been chasing the tones and textures film gives so effortlessly.
I’ve photographed church ceremonies in Cambridge, countryside receptions in Kent, and luxury stately home weddings across the southeast. Alongside the reliability of digital, I absolutely love capturing weddings on 35mm film.

Behind the lens
Hi, I’m Tom a Kent-based wedding photographer with a love for film photography. What matters most to me are the real, original moments that show people as they truly are. My approach blends honest, documentary-style storytelling with a refined fashion editorial finish. It’s ideal for couples who want beautiful, natural images without all the stiff posing.
My work has been featured in magazines and I’m proud to be recommended by venues across the South East and Cambridgeshire. Whether you're tying the knot in a grand setting or somewhere small and personal, I’ll be there to photograph all the emotion and joy.
Right now, I include one roll of 35mm film with every wedding I photograph. If you’d like more, you’re welcome to upgrade to up to eight rolls for the day.
Digital will always be my reliable workhorse. It’s fast, flexible and never misses a moment. But there is something special about film that I’ll always make space for. It brings a different kind of magic, and I love giving that to my couples.
"Every image feels authentic, polished, and full of life, and we’ll treasure them forever. Tom was truly perfect, and we can’t wait for him to photograph more special milestones for us in the future. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a talented, creative Film photographer!"

We would 100% recommend Tom to any couple looking for a wedding photographer in Kent, he is such a professional! We were absolutely thrilled with our wedding photographs!

Yes, absolutely. All film photos are scanned and delivered as digital files alongside your main gallery, they just take a little longer to develop in my trusted labs.
Each roll has around 36 exposures. One roll means usually about 30–36 film images scanned.
I focus on moments as usual like I do with digital photography, but pick the moments where it's slower and less pressure. Things like portraits, ceremonies, golden hour, and emotional, quiet moments.
In theory, I could shoot an entire wedding on film. But to keep your memories safe, I prefer not to because digital is incredibly reliable. Depending on how many rolls your package includes, I make sure to spread the film throughout the day.
Mostly Kodak Portra 200 for soft, natural tones in fairly well lit scenarios. Sometimes black and white Ilford too, depending on what you would prefer.
Film has a unique, timeless quality that since 2024 couples have been regularly requesting. It will never completely replace digital, but will always have a space in my kit bag.
