As a father, I know firsthand how precious it is to look back on photographs of my son—seeing just how much he’s grown and how quickly time flies. That’s why family photography in Kent holds such a special place in my heart, alongside weddings.
My approach is all about authenticity—capturing real, heartfelt moments of you and your loved ones doing what you enjoy most. Whether it’s a stroll along the beach, quite times in the cozy comfort of your home, or an adventure in the woods, these are the moments that matter. Let’s create a collection of photographs that celebrate your family as they are right now—memories you’ll treasure forever.
I believe that photography is a form of art that can take pride of place on your walls or in an album, but I also understand that we only have a certain amount of space and sometimes digital is a good option for capturing lovely memories. That's why I offer an "heirloom" & a "digital experience".
Time goes far too quickly, and whether you want to send off some digital files to overseas family or put beautiful wall art in your house, there's always a good reason to book a family photographer.
The "Heirloom Experience" is perfect for families who want to display their memories at home in the form of premium artwork.
You don't have the desire for hundreds of digital images or to put meaningless prints on the wall but want priceless photographs of memories of your family on display.
The "Digital Experience" is suited to families who prefer the flexibility of digital screen optimised files, would mostly like to share their photographs online and have the ability to order products themselves without the in-house guidance from an industry professional.
Choosing the right location is key to creating family portraits that are truly memorable. I’ve had the chance to shoot in some of the most beautiful spots in Kent, and here are a few of my favourites:
Just a short walk from my home, there are so many places to explore: rockpools, sandy parts during low tide and an awesome boulder garden on the walk down.
Kearsney Abbey is filled with stunning trees and picturesque paths, making it a perfect location for a family photoshoot. Spring, in particular, is a magical time to visit, as the daffodils bloom in vibrant colours!
I absolutely love the beach and the best thing about Kingsdown Beach is that you have big rocks, pebbles and beach huts. You also have big cliffs to explore if you're feeling adventurous!
If you have a particularly beautiful home and grounds surrounding, your place can be the perfect place to host your family shoot.
I have photographed families in brisk, winter months and warm summer, it all depends what you would like to feel like on the shoot and what you would like to wear. As for the time of day, late afternoon or “golden hour” – just after sunrise or before sunset – offers the softest, most flattering light for photos.
Most of my families always purchase something for their wall or home, whether that's a bespoke framed product or an album with all images from the shoot. However, digitals can be great for sending to overseas family, for phone backgrounds, or for social media.
A family shoot generally lasts 1 hour but can be longer: I never rush the shoot, giving us enough time to explore the location, try different outfits, and capture a variety of shots. If you’d like to visit multiple locations, we can extend the session a bit to make sure we cover everything.
Wear something that reflects your personal style and makes you feel good, but I definitely recommend the same colour palette. Whatever you wear, I suggest no big logos or crazy t-shirts as these can age in time. Bring a mix of outfits – casual and comfortable. Solid colours or subtle patterns work well, as they keep the focus on you. White is good as it will enable more light to shine on you.
