There are usually multiple reasons why your favourite restaurant becomes your favourite restaurant. Sometimes it’s the food. Sometimes it’s the atmosphere. Sometimes it’s simply the way the staff make you feel every time you walk through the door. For me, my favourite wedding venues in Cambridgeshire are pretty similar.

As a wedding photographer, I spend long days at venues. I see how teams treat couples when timelines drift behind. I see how coordinators speak to nervous parents. I see how chefs adapt when the weather suddenly changes plans. Those little moments tell you far more about a venue than a brochure ever could.

Having lived in Cambridge for four years, I photographed weddings all across the county and built some genuinely lovely relationships with venues and teams. There are still many places I’d consider among the best luxury wedding venues in Cambridgeshire, but the venues below are the ones I personally feel most connected to.

1. Childerley Wedding Venue – One Of My Favourite Wedding Venues in Cambridgeshire

The welcome I received at Childerley was probably one of my favourites from any venue I’ve worked at.

From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel like part of the day rather than just another supplier turning up with cameras. That sort of atmosphere changes everything. Couples relax more. Suppliers work better together. The whole wedding feels calmer and more personal.

After the wedding, the managers invited me onto their recommended supplier list, which genuinely meant a lot to me. It showed they valued not only the photographs, but also the way I approached the day and interacted with guests. When they saw the final gallery, their reaction was incredibly kind and enthusiastic, which is always lovely after investing so much into documenting a wedding properly.

Visually, Childerley is also an absolute gift to photograph.

The gardens feel elegant without being overly formal, and the outdoor ceremony spaces have a softness to them that works beautifully in photographs. There’s a relaxed luxury to the venue. Nothing feels forced or too polished. It still feels warm and welcoming, which is often the sweet spot for modern weddings.

One thing I particularly love is how well the venue works across different weather conditions. Even on overcast days, there’s still loads of texture and atmosphere to work with. That’s something couples rarely think about when booking a venue, but photographers definitely notice it.

2. Kings College, University – Another Of My Favourite Wedding Venues in Cambridgeshire

Iconic is probably the only word that really fits.

There are very few wedding venues in the UK that immediately carry the same sense of history and scale as King’s College. Walking through the grounds feels cinematic, especially when guests are arriving dressed for a black tie wedding while tourists stop and stare through the gates.

Photographing inside the chapel is definitely challenging because it’s quite dark, but honestly, that’s where experience matters. A beautiful venue still needs someone who knows how to work in difficult lighting conditions without turning the photographs into something artificial-looking.

The architecture inside is breathtaking. Every direction offers another composition. The towering ceilings, stained glass, and centuries of history create photographs that feel timeless without trying too hard.

The staff were brilliant too. Friendly, relaxed, and funny throughout the day, which always helps the atmosphere feel less stiff in such a grand setting.

I’ll be honest, the supplier food I received was fairly underwhelming. I think it was sandwiches and crisps if I remember correctly. Meanwhile, the food served to guests looked absolutely incredible, which did slightly test my emotional resilience while editing later on.

But jokes aside, the standard of hospitality for guests was exceptional.

One thing that always stayed with me was how immaculate the grounds were considering the public still visit daily. Managing a wedding alongside tourism can’t be easy, yet everything still felt calm and beautifully maintained.

3. The Manor Barn,Wedding Venue – A Barn & One Of My Favourite Wedding Venues in Cambridgeshire

I’m so thankful to have photographed many weddings at The Manor Barn.

The first time I worked there, the welcome was brilliant. Since then, the venue has recommended me to countless couples, which has created a really lovely ongoing relationship with the team.

That familiarity makes a huge difference on a wedding day. When venues trust their suppliers, everything tends to flow more naturally. Communication becomes easier, timelines become smoother, and couples feel more relaxed because everyone around them feels connected and experienced together.

The grounds are also incredibly fun to explore photographically.

There are loads of little pockets of light and texture that work beautifully for portraits without needing to drag couples miles away from their guests. That balance matters a lot to me because I never want couples spending half their wedding day posing endlessly.

And then there are the fairy lights.

I genuinely lost count of how many there were the first time I photographed there. In the evening, the whole venue transforms into something that feels warm, romantic, and incredibly atmospheric. For photography, especially documentary evening coverage, those little touches make such a difference.

Some venues look amazing in daylight but lose atmosphere later on. Manor Barn manages both.

4. South Farm,Wedding Venue – A Real Farm & One Of My Favourite Wedding Venues in Cambridgeshire

I recently photographed an all vegan wedding at South Farm and honestly had such a great time.

It’s also been fascinating seeing how much the venue has evolved since I first photographed there over thirteen years ago. A lot has changed, but it still maintains the relaxed charm that made people fall in love with it originally.

The house almost feels like something lifted from a Spanish island retreat now, especially during summer weddings. You genuinely forget how close you are to Cambridge because the grounds feel so peaceful and tucked away from everything.

That sense of escape is something couples really value.

Weddings naturally come with emotion, nerves, and a bit of chaos at times, so venues that help people slow down and actually enjoy the experience are incredibly valuable.

South Farm also has loads of personality. From the gardens to the colourful buildings and hidden corners, it never feels generic. As a photographer, that’s inspiring because every part of the venue offers opportunities to create photographs that feel unique to the couple and the setting.

The team there always seem genuinely passionate about weddings too, which you can feel throughout the day.

There are still plenty of wedding venues across Cambridgeshire that I’d love to photograph in the future, and honestly, this list could probably change slightly every year depending on the experiences I have.

But these venues stand out because of the memories attached to them.

Great wedding venues are never just about pretty buildings. They’re about people, atmosphere, hospitality, and how a place makes you feel when you’re actually there.

As a photographer, those things matter massively because they shape the energy of the entire wedding day, and ultimately, the photographs that come from it.
