Why Do More Couples Choose a Weekday Wedding Photographer?
April 9, 2026
If you’re planning a wedding between Monday and Friday, you’re not alone and it’s getting popular for 2026. Over the past few years, weekday weddings across Kent, Cambridge and London have quietly become one of the most thoughtful ways to get married. It’s great as you can book time off work, give your friends an excuse to have a day (or two) off too and usually venue prices are down. As a weekday wedding photographer, I’ve seen first-hand how these celebrations don’t feel like they’re mid week and still feel special. Less rush, more intentional, and everybody feels more thankful.
This isn’t about cutting corners. It’s about choosing a wedding that fits your life, your people, and your priorities. Let’s get into why a weekday celebration might be a good call for your luxury wedding.

TLDR
The “too long didn’t read” for this article can be summarised in these bullet points regarding being a weekday wedding photographer:
- Weekday weddings clash less with weekend plans and are often more beautifully paced
- Venues in Kent, Cambridge and London are way more available midweek
- Suppliers tend to have more flexibility for multi-day celebrations, which can elevate the experience
- Your photography benefits massively from quieter spaces and softer timelines
- I photograph weekday weddings in a documentary, editorial style with both digital and analogue film
- If you’re planning something intentional and high-end, weekday weddings are genuinely worth considering

Why weekday weddings are becoming more popular
There’s been some interesting luxury wedding trends in 2026 since I started being a weekday wedding photographer 14 years ago and I’m here for it. Less pressure to follow tradition and more focus on creating something that feels true to the couple. More of this, less of trying to please everyone for sure.
Weekday weddings sit right in that space of what works for you. Why book a weekend when it’s more expensive and only 50 of them each year?
These decisions often come from couples who:
- Don’t mind going against the grain of what’s popular
- Want a more intimate, meaningful experience
- Care about design, atmosphere and storytelling
- Value time with their guests over ticking boxes
- Are drawn to a more editorial, less staged aesthetic
From a practical perspective, weekday weddings in Kent and Cambridge also open doors. Venues like The Old Kent Barn or South Farm feel calmer midweek and their staff are just as sharp. London venues are easier to access too with a big percentage less tourists. Suppliers have more breathing room so it’s generally calmer and easier.
But beyond logistics and your family’s availability, the real difference can be price – do some research.
If you’re searching for a weekday wedding photographer, chances are you’re already thinking about these practicalities.

What a weekday wedding actually feels like
There’s a noticeable shift in energy as everyone usually feels like they should be at work.
Guests arrive without the chaos of a packed Saturday schedule. The pace is softer. Conversations last longer. People are more present and happy not to be at work.
I’ve been a weekday wedding photographer where:
- The couple walked through empty town streets after their ceremony
- Guests stayed for hours longer than planned
- The timeline sits naturally without pressure
Real weekday weddings I’ve photographed
These aren’t styled shoots or hypotheticals. These are real editorial weddings, with real couples, across Kent, Cambridge and London where I have been the weekday wedding photographer. Check them out:
Winters Barn Wedding Photographer – Grace & Andy, Canterbury
A Friday wedding that felt like the perfect start to a long weekend in Canterbury. They started at Canterbury Cathedral and ended up at Winters Barns, it was a special day.

Broadstairs Wedding Photographer – Kayleigh & Luke
A February weekday wedding by the sea. Intimate, emotional, and completely unfazed by the absolutely awful weather.

Editorial Fashion Cambridge Wedding – Holly & Dom
A Thursday wedding that was pure fashion editorial elegance. Cambridge midweek has a completely different rhythm even with busy streets, the Cambridge University space was private for their use.

The Old Kent Barn Wedding Photographer – Emma & Mason
A Monday wedding at The Old Kent Barn where I have been recommended at for over 7 years. The entire day was theirs to do with as they wish.

South Farm Wedding Photographer – Jess & Joe
A Monday vegan wedding at South Farm on the hottest day of the year. If you know this venue, you’ll know it feels like a French Chateaux while remaining completely private.

Christian Wedding Photographer – Chelsea & Luke
A chilly Friday in November at a faith filled church and local pub, easy with small children.

Why weekday weddings photograph beautifully
This is where things really come into their own. As a weekday wedding photographer, I notice things that most people wouldn’t think about.
Less foot traffic.
More family able to attend.
Better access to locations with less tourists around (particularly for Cambridge University weddings)
More time for portraits without unnecessary pressure.
In London, this might mean quieter streets near your venue. In Kent, it could mean uninterrupted access to gardens or the beach. In Cambridge, it often means empty college backdrops.
From a photography perspective, it allows me to work in a way that blends:
- Documentary observation
- Editorial composition
- Getting to know lots of your friends and family
If you’ve read my blog on documentary wedding photography, this is where weekday weddings really shine.

My approach as a weekday wedding photographer
if you don’t know me already, hi! I’m Tom, a Kent wedding photographer working across the South East, Cambridge and London. I’ve been a weekday wedding photographer since 2012, with a background in fashion photography and luxury features in Italian Vogue, Professional Photographer and English Weddings.
When you meet me you will realise my work is a collaboration between documentary and editorial.
I don’t do guided posing in the traditional sense. Instead, I focus on fashionable framing, natural movement, and creating space for moments to unfold.
That means:
- You won’t be pulled away for long, staged sessions
- Your photos will feel natural, refined and you’ll be pleasantly surprised the images look completely original
- The day flows how we and your wedding planner planned it
I also shoot on both digital and 35mm analogue film, which adds a tactile, timeless quality to your gallery.
This is especially powerful for weekday weddings. The slower pace allows me to lean fully into that style and shoot more rolls of film.
Planning a weekday wedding in Kent, Cambridge or London
As a weekday wedding photographer each location brings something different.
Kent
Venues like The Old Kent Barn, Goodnestone Park, Ripple Court Estate and coastal locations in Thanet feel calmer midweek. You often get a more exclusive feel – these are 15 wedding venues I’d love to photograph in the area.
Cambridge
South Farm, Cambridge college venues, Hengrave Hall and surrounding countryside locations benefit hugely from weekday weddings. Less foot traffic, more privacy.
London
Weekday weddings in London can actually feel more accessible. Traffic patterns change, venues are less crowded, and the city feels more usable.
Last minute weekday weddings for 2026
One thing worth mentioning, as a weekday wedding photographer I do have some weekday availability for 2026.
Weekday weddings are trending for 2026 and couples are planning for this year just months in advance. I’m always happy to accommodate shorter timelines where possible in your wedding package.
If you’re planning something last minute but still want a high-end, natural, editorial wedding gallery, it’s absolutely doable.

Reviews from real couples
“As far as photographers go, Tom is is a 10/10. On our weekday wedding we were so nervous about having photos because we are two extremely awkward and photogenic people 😂 but he made us feel so comfortable to the point we forgot he had a camera! The photos speak for themselves, he captured our happiness and all of our guests so perfectly. The photos are everything we imagined and more, we’ll cherish them forever. On top of that it’s a bonus to have gained a lifelong friend, who always asks after our son. If for some reason you are between photographers before making a choice, you will not regret picking Tom!” Chelsea & Luke
“We couldn’t be happier that we chose Tom Keenan Photography to capture our engagement and mid-week wedding day. We were looking for someone who could blend a timeless, classic wedding style with a modern, fashion-editorial feel – and Tom nailed it perfectly. He has a real talent for making everyone feel at ease, and his gentle guidance helped us strike the perfect balance between capturing those key moments and truly enjoying our day. Tom was absolutely wonderful to work with — professional, thoughtful, and incredibly warm.
The photos he took are stunning; they reflect the genuine emotion and joy of the day while also showcasing that chic, editorial edge we hoped for. Every image feels authentic, polished, and full of life, and we’ll treasure them forever. Tom was truly perfect, and we can’t wait for him to photograph more special milestones for us in the future. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a talented, creative photographer!” Holly & Dom
“Tom, where do we even start! We found Tom through Instagram after searching for a photographer who worked close to our wedding venue. Straight away we were taken by his style and we could feel a connection to his work. We felt like it was a little bit different to a lot of wedding photography we had seen, it felt real and raw. After reaching out Tom was so kind and we spent a lot of time just chatting about our lives! By the time the wedding came round we felt like we knew Tom as a friend.
So many of our guests and suppliers commented on how lovely Tom is and how incredible our photos are. You honestly can’t put a price on that kind of service on a weekday. Thank you Tom, we will cherish our photos and also meeting you 🙂” Jess & Joe
Choosing a weekday wedding photographer is about finding someone who understands the rhythm of a weekday wedding and isn’t booking every weekend at a cheaper price. Someone who can work with your intentional choice to wed mid-week.
