Branding

In late March this year I had the pleasure of collaborating with Ramsgate Works—a newly launched creative co-working space nestled in the heart of Ramsgate, near Margate. This project was more than just a photography assignment; it was an opportunity to capture the essence of a space designed to foster creativity and community. You may have mostly seen weddings on my page, but I have been working with businesses since the same time when I began working for couples. Throwbacks to working for Magdalene College in Cambridge and marketing companies near Canterbury, it felt great to work for another a Corporate Business Photography for Ramsgate Works.

Ramsgate Works: A Creative Hub in the Old Wine Warehouse

Ramsgate Works is situated in the historic Old Wine Warehouse on Charlotte Court. If you’re unsure, it’s down the alleyway by the taxi rank on Ramsgate high street. This Victorian-era building, originally constructed for local wine merchants Page & Sons, has undergone various transformations—from a martial arts centre to a Michelin-recommended restaurant, and now, a vibrant co-working space. The restoration, led by Heritage Lab, aimed to blend the building’s rich history with modern design elements, creating an inspiring environment for creatives, remote workers, and entrepreneurs.

Something that I thought was super cool was that the brand designer picked the typography from the old wine merchants letters on the outside of the building. He located a similar red and green, and was able to create this cohesive brand identity born from the ashes of a very old dead company.

The interior boasts a huge range of facilities: dedicated and flexible desk spaces, silent work pods, a conference setup, a cozy sofa area with a projector, and a fully equipped kitchen. Natural light floods the space through windows lining one side, enhancing the warm, inviting atmosphere. The design, crafted by Ramsgate-based Myles Lucas Studio, combines the old with the new, drawing inspiration from the building’s Victorian heritage and its transformation into a workplace for creativity and innovation.

The Importance of Authentic Imagery in Branding

In today’s digital age, authentic imagery plays a crucial role in branding. Stock photos, while convenient (and I have a part to play in that, shooting stock) often lack the personal touch and specificity that real photographs provide. For this Corporate Business Photography for Ramsgate Works, showcasing the actual space was essential to convey its unique character and appeal to potential members.

Professional photography offers numerous benefits:

  • Authenticity: Real images of the space help build trust with potential clients.
  • Consistency: Custom photos ensure that all marketing materials align with the brand’s aesthetic.
  • Versatility: A comprehensive photo library provides content for various platforms, from websites to social media.

By investing in professional photography, Ramsgate Works positioned itself as a premium coworking space, ready to attract a diverse community of creatives and professionals.

Think about it – if you took a handful of photos, unedited from your iPhone you would have a handful to use there and then. On the other hand, if you get professional photographs even for an hour you could have as many as 80-100 images to spread through your social media scheduler. 7 posts a week? That’s a whole quarter you can schedule out on just one shoot!

Capturing the Essence of Ramsgate Works

During our two-hour session Corporate Business Photography for Ramsgate Works, we focused on highlighting the unique features of Ramsgate Works. We began with exterior shots, capturing the building’s historic façade and the surrounding courtyard. Inside which was the main focus, we photographed the main office area with its side-by-side workbenches, the moody staircase adorned with a modern chandelier, and the cozy sofa area equipped with a projector overhead.

Special attention was given to the silent work pods and the conference setup, emphasizing the versatility of the space and soundproofing. The kitchen and restroom facilities were also documented, showcasing the comprehensive amenities available to members. You want to know where you can make your morning coffee!

Hands On Editing Overview

To ensure the images aligned with this Corporate Business Photography for Ramsgate Works Works’ branding, we conducted a live editing session via video call. I opened up Lightroom and shared the screen with the director – he was able to see the current edit I had got to so far and make live tweaks to make it something that he was fully happy with. Another approach is that I can make a variety of potential edits and see what you would like, but it depends on the time that the client has to spend and the amount of creative control they would like.

This collaborative approach allowed the director to provide real-time feedback, ensuring the final images accurately reflected the desired aesthetic—brighter tones, true-to-brand colours, and a balanced contrast.

Heritage Lab: Revitalising Ramsgate’s Heritage

Heritage Lab, the organisation behind Ramsgate Works, is dedicated to bringing Ramsgate’s heritage buildings and community assets back into sustainable use. By focusing on the creative sector, they aim to create high-quality community spaces, workspaces, and jobs, enhancing pride in the town. It’s quite cool really.

Their vision is to regenerate Ramsgate by revitalising historic buildings and community assets, and from that creating work and community spaces, employment opportunities, and enhancing the overall quality of the coastal environment. Through their efforts, which there is a lot, Heritage Lab is reinforcing a sense of community, rejuvenating the local economy, and providing a catalyst for improvements to the wider area. Respect to this team!

Google really cares about the quality of search results and your images will either help or hinder your position in the search ranks which is make or break to any business. In the case of Ramsgate Works, the potential income from monthly subscriptions—over £2,000—justified the investment in professional photography. By presenting the space accurately and attractively, they positioned themselves to attract and retain members effectively.
