I sat down with Sommy, a UK & International Luxury UK Wedding Planner & Stylist, and asked her all sorts of questions about her and her brand. I discovered her favourite things to be involved with as a planner and as a stylist. Each UK Wedding Planner is completely different and similar to your luxury wedding photographer you must have chemistry with them. Hi Sommy! What are some of the most creative and luxurious styling ideas you’ve seen in UK weddings, and how can couples incorporate them into their own special day?

Florals are probably the first option to create a luxurious wedding and play with the styling as this element can really bring your colour scheme together. However, my personal favourite is lighting and stationery. Lighting can really elevate your wedding look whether that’s incorporating different lighting rigging such as chandeliers or different sets of mood lighting for each section of the wedding to create the journey of the day.

Stationery is often underestimated but to have an elaborate welcome sign for example sets the tone for the day and is one of the first steps of the wow factor for the day.

How do you help couples achieve a “wow factor” at their wedding, and what are some of your favorite ways to surprise and delight guests?

I always start with, what is the story you want to create that shows you as a couple. From this, my couples remember certain memories whether that’s special trips, food experience they have had together and we include this in their wedding.

Small and consistent personalised elements create an overall wow factor as well as the design element to bring it all together My favourite ways is definitely through entertainment. From the moment guests arrive having maybe a live musician or live drawing artist creates vibrancy for your wedding from the guests arrival.

What are some common misconceptions about booking a wedding planner / stylist?

That they are not needed, however from being a planner myself and also having planned my own wedding I would say they are definitely needed. A wedding planner and stylist will help you plan from start to finish, take away 90% of the wedmin that comes with planning the wedding. They will help you to maximise the most for your money with budget planning and expert advise, look for the suppliers/venues that are inline with what you are looking for, create endless vision boards, schedules and floor plans to make sure everything comes together for you to have the best day as well as manage and organise the set up etc on the day!

So much more to this but I could talk about it for hours haha – but ultimately your planner/stylist is here for you and your best interest to make sure planning stays on track and you’re as stress free as possible. Leave all the behind scenes organisation to us and have a joyful wedding planning!

Could you describe your involvement before the wedding and on the wedding day itself?

From the first deep dive call to find out who you are as a couple and the type of you are we get the ball rolling! Venue/supplier search, design briefs, meeting bookings and attending those with you or on behalf of you. Floor plans, seating plan creations, budget creation, timeline creation as well as the schedule. On the day we’re there with you at the hotel and venue for set up and throughout the whole day to guide guests, check suppliers etc and next room set up to the end of the night derig and dance on the dance floor after a successful and beautiful day!

What are some of the most unique and memorable wedding experiences you’ve had the pleasure of planning?

This is a hard choose! My most memorable are at the end of the nights when EVERYTHING has been ticked off and we join in the background on the dance floor to celebrate, watching our couples and guests have such an amazing day celebrating always makes me want to shake a shoulder with them.

What’s your ideal wedding to be involved with?

So I am an Ibiza girlie at heart so a wedding that has insane entertainment would be a dream, from big band to a dj or strings always melt my heart. Amazing dancers in the evening to get the party going and encourage the more shy guests to an absolutely gorgeous design scheme that is ultra personalised to my couples taste.
