Why People Say I’m the Best Wedding Photographer in Kent
August 5, 2025
Blushing a little as I write this. I’ll be the first to say I love the community of wedding photographers here in Kent, and I am not the only decent one here. However, there is something beautifully humbling yet affirming about hearing your name followed by the words “the best.” Especially when it comes from couples, venues and wedding suppliers who have been around for decades. Over the years, my clients, industry peers and local South East venues have called me exactly that and I suppose I should write about it: they think I’m one the best wedding photographer in Kent.
This post isn’t about shouting the loudest or showing off, yuck. I just want to “show up” with what trusted people have said about me caring deeply, and doing photography well. If the reviews I’ve been lucky enough to receive are anything to go by, then perhaps there’s something in it. So if you’re wondering what makes a photographer not just good, but genuinely trusted and treasured by couples across Kent, I hope this gives you some insight. Here goes!

What My Clients Say
Client reviews are the heart of this post, and the reason this post exists. I feel a bit shy blowing my own trumpet but just check out these reflections of real experiences. I’m deeply grateful for every one.

“I discovered Tom via his Instagram as he is recommend by our wedding venue which was The Old Kent Barn. My husband and I looked at Tom’s instagram, Facebook and website and loved his style and all of the beautiful photos on there. We had an initial consultation with Tom via zoom and my husband & I knew that we had to book him to photograph our wedding. We love Tom and knew we would get along really well. He kept in touch regularly via email and Instagram message which was really lovely of him. He even sent us some delicious doughnuts in the post!
Tom Keenan is one of the best photographers out there…
…he has taken such stunning photos of our special day and we have had so many compliments about how beautiful the photos are. We see Tom as one of our friends after getting to know him and photograph our special day, we always ask how he and his family are and truly care about him as he is such a lovely person. He was so lovely to be with on our special day, He is friendly, fun, caring and just brilliant. We will definitely keep in touch with Tom after the wedding, we highly, highly recommend Tom. He is a an amazingly talented photographer, we couldn’t imagine anyone else to photograph and be part of our big day.”
Amy & Jordan shared:
“We received our photos back from Tom while we were on our honeymoon. He stayed up and worked away so we could relive our day and if that doesn’t show you why kind of guy Tom is I don’t know what will! He captured our magical day beautifully, I knew he would from he’s portfolio but WOW we are just so blown away and happy with how the photos came out!
But its not just that that I’m thankful for. From start to finish the communication from Tom was second to none! Even with the fact he’s wife had just given birth to their beautiful son Tobias 2 weeks before our big day! Even with a tiny human that was now totally reliant on him he was always on hand to any questions we had.
We discussed with Tom over zoom before hand exactly what we wanted and well… HE NAILED IT! After that zoom call he felt less like a supplier and more like a friend and what more could you want for your wedding day! Tom has this calming about him, so relaxed he made us and the whole bridal party feel comfortable and at ease, he’s one liners and banter certainly took the edge off and had us laughing away!
You can tell he’s very passionate about photography and absolutly loves he’s job. He captured the fun, love, laughter along with all the personality of our wedding and that’s exactly what we wanted.Tom choosing you is a decision we will never regret. You are simply the best!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for capturing memories of our beautiful day that will last a lifetime. We will 100% be using you for future projects if you’ll have us!”
It’s a long one so buckle up! Sophie & Matt said:
“What can I say about Tom? The most TALENTED photographer and an even more fantastic person. We knew we wanted Tom the moment we saw his portfolio, his pictures were absolutely stunning, and his eye is just fantastic. He manages to capture such precious moments and the quality of the images was absolutely incredible.
Unfortunately at the time our budget wouldn’t allow, so we walked away (briefly) before realising that we wanted Tom so much we’d make sure we could afford it by making cuts elsewhere, and WOW are we glad we made that decision! From start to finish, Tom has been extraordinary to work with. Such a kind and easy way about him, he gave us so much helpful advice and amazing ideas in our initial zoom call.
Everything from group photos, to scheduling, to putting our minds at rest about being the centre of attention all day! He found out about us as a couple, and made sure he knew what was important to us personally so he could emphasise that in his shots. For us we wanted to capture the warmth of the day, the moments we might miss and the fun and vibrancy of the day and Tom and Kendelle did EXACTLY that. (Just as a side note – I’d definitely recommend investing in an associate photographer).
The photos he captured are absolutely perfect, I shed a tear going through the album because he caught the whole day so perfectly! It was like reliving our favourite day all over again! We’re really struggling to choose which to get printed because they’re honestly just all so fantastic! He even caught moments between Matt (my husband) and I that I don’t even remember happening, but were just so wonderful to see.
So many of our guests have commented how lovely Tom was throughout the day, really putting them at ease and he really felt like he was part of the day and fit right into my friends and family, which was exactly what we wanted (while also being really subtle and taking so many sneaky shots I don’t remember seeing him taking!!) We really connected with Tom on so many levels, but we genuinely feel like we’ve made a friend.
It’s really important when you’re planning a wedding (in my opinion) that you really trust the people you’re working with, and we can honestly say from the bottom of our hearts that we trusted Tom implicitly and weren’t disappointed at all! If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, please don’t look any further! Tom is your man.
Not only will you receive the BEST images of your wedding day…
but you might just make a new pal at the same time!”
I’ve been recommended not just by couples, but also fellow wedding professionals. Erica from Erica Dunne Cakes said:
“He captured it beautifully… very professional and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend.”
Lucy Jayne MUA wrote:
“If you’re looking for a wedding photographer who is both professional and a lovely human to have with you on your big day, I can’t recommend Tom enough.”
Blushing reading these! It’s worth noting that the feedback speaks to more than photos but about me (which feels weird to say!) It’s about their trust in me and my calm confidence that gives couples the freedom to be themselves and say I’m the best wedding photographer in Kent.

Experience, Expertise, and Longevity
I started photographing weddings in 2012, after studying at UCA in Canterbury and winning a global apprenticeship through The Photographer Academy. Over 800 people applied, and that win gave me a grounding in studio lighting, portraiture, and creative control that I have the ability to draw on today.
Since then, I’ve photographed everything from celebrity portraits for the BBC to small countryside elopements. My work has appeared in Italian Vogue’s Best Of selection, and I’ve written educational features for professional photography magazines. But more than anything, I’ve built a reputation for reliability, emotional insight, and consistently high-quality work. It takes time, but it’s been worth it for sure.
I shoot a maximum of one wedding a week, so every couple receives the time and attention they deserve. I also average 5-10 weddings a year so you’ll never hear my moaning about being burnt out. This is something I have a sense of calling about by celebrating couples on a day all about love. I also have a strong network of professional photographers I trust, so if an emergency ever arose, my couples would never be left without expert coverage. I am friends with a bunch of other wedding photographers in Kent that I believe in community over competition.
And while I photograph weddings across the South East, Kent is my home. I was born and raised here, and I will always feel at home here. The local knowledge and sentimentality I have often makes a real difference.
My Luxury Wedding Style and Why It Resonates
At its heart, my photography is a blend of documentary storytelling and editorial images. I don’t believe in stiff poses or staged moments, just look through my portfolio. Instead, I aim to tell your story naturally and beautifully.
Rosie & Alfie, who married at Reach Court Farm, said:
“Tom managed to capture not just the big moments, but also the smaller, more emotional ones that we’ll cherish forever. His attention to detail and ability to tell the full story of the day through his images were truly impressive.”
Holly & Dom appreciated the editorial balance:
“We were looking for someone who could blend a timeless, classic wedding style with a modern, fashion-editorial feel—and Tom nailed it perfectly.”
I’m drawn to real emotion and authenticity. None of the fake stuff. I LOVE portraits, but make them soulful and personal. If needed I’ll give a bit of guidance for couples during their portraits but it’s mostly “go explore over there” or “don’t look at me, be present with each other”.
Why Kent Venues Recommend Me
It’s always an honour to hear nice words from clients but it’s also cool to be recommended by venues who’ve seen countless photographers come and go. Over the years, I’ve developed strong relationships with Kent’s best wedding venues, who regularly refer me to their couples.
The Old Kent Barn shared:
“Tom brings a calm and credible presence to every wedding, helping couples feel relaxed and allowing the day to unfold naturally… His ability to blend in while still capturing the most important memories is just one of the many reasons we regularly recommend him to our couples.”
Winters Barns, where I’m also recommended, wrote:
“Tom is incredibly professional, easy to collaborate with, and has a great way of putting couples at ease. His style blends seamlessly with the atmosphere we create.”
Solton Manor said:
“We’d absolutely recommend Tom to any couple. His calm friendly manner, energy, professionalism, and creative eye make him a joy to work with.”
These referrals matter to me. Not just because they bring in new bookings, but because they reflect mutual respect and shared values. We all care about delivering a seamless, heartfelt wedding experience.

Client Care That Goes Beyond the Booking
Yes the photographs are what people book me for, but luxury service is also about the journey and care they receive along the way. From the moment a couple books me, I offer a consultation to get to know them and understand what matters most. It’s important to me that I’m not just ticking boxes on a shot list but to document what’s meaningful to you.
Emma & Mason mentioned:
“He kept in touch regularly via email and Instagram message… he even sent us some delicious doughnuts in the post!”
Amy & Jordan recalled:
“Even with a tiny human that was now totally reliant on him, he was always on hand to any questions we had… he made us and the whole bridal party feel comfortable and at ease.”
I want the experience to feel human. That means checking in before the wedding, sending little surprises, creating a photography timeline that supports your day, and delivering previews as soon as I can (sometimes even 24 hours after the wedding or before you’re back from your honeymoon).
Many clients tell me they felt more like they were working with a friend than a supplier and that’s exactly how I want it to feel.
Jemma & Ethan, who married at The Bell Hotel in Sandwich, said:
“Tom made us feel completely comfortable throughout. We wanted photos to treasure forever and he delivered. We are so blessed.”
When you invite me into your wedding, I’m on your side and I’m all for you.
A Final Thought and an Invitation
I know there are many talented wedding photographers out there, but I’m so thankful to be called the best wedding photographer in Kent (or at least one of them!). I’m lucky enough to know and respect several who build me up and visa versa. So when someone calls me “the best,” I take that as the highest compliment but not a competition. It’s a reminder that what I’m doing is landing with the people it’s meant to serve.
If you’re currently searching for a Kent wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re getting married in a barn, a castle, a church or your parents’ back garden, what matters most is that you feel comfortable, understood, and stoked about your photos.
So if my work resonates with you, and you’d like to chat more about your plans, let’s talk. I’d be honoured to tell your story.
